Answer:

Yes. While vaccination against COVID-19 is the first and best defence, some people are at higher risk of becoming very unwell if they contract the virus.

People who can now receive Government subsidised COVID-19 oral antiviral treatments include:

  • 70 years of age or older

  • 60-69 years of age or older with 1 additional risk factor

  • 50 years of age or older with 2 additional risk factors for or have had past COVID-19 infection resulting in hospitalisation.

  • First Nations people, 30 years of age or older and with 1 additional risk factor or have had past COVID-19 infection resulting in hospitalisation.

COVID-19 patients can check their eligibility for antiviral medication by requesting a COVID-19 Antiviral Consultation.

Those deemed eligible will be referred for a telehealth consultation with one of our doctors who can check your symptoms, determine the correct medication, and issue a script that is government subsidised. Patients that are not eligible can still receive support to manage their symptoms.
